Dear Ralph Kozak,

I just spoke with you on the phone. I am doing a project for my Christian Imagination class as a graduate student at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. In the class we needed to create an art project using our imagination. Taking this class has been a part of my journey of faith as I learn to step out, try something new and risk even failing before my classmates. I have just recently taught myself some chords on the guitar and came up with a song for my project that deals with Jesus smiling on me (and on every person who will take notice of Him). In writing my song, I have been reminded of the picture that I saw of yours a number of years ago when I was in a support group for children of sexual abuse. I remember being touched by the image because it so vividly portrayed the joy on Jesus' face and reminded me not to take life so seriously. I have remembered the image several times as I think of Jesus being pleased with me even when I feel I disappoint and fail him. I am reminded that he isn't surprised by my sin and that I have life in response to his initiation with me. To catch a glimpse of Jesus who is pleased with me at all times helps me be free of some of the perfectionism that I get "stuck" in sometimes.
