My cousin by marriage, John Stringfellow, passed away November 2 and his funeral was today. John was a man who loved to laugh and loved to make others laugh.

One of his closest friends spoke at the funeral about John's "gift of goofiness" and showed a gift John had given him for Christmas a few years ago. It was The Laughing Jesus. What a beautiful picture of a side of the Lord's personality about which we rarely think!

John's wife, Debby, wanted his funeral service to, first of all, honor the Lord (and believe me, it most definitely did) and, second of all, honor who John was.

In March of 2000 John received a heart transplant and because of that he touched even more people that he would've otherwise. He was able to use his sense of empathy and humor to help others going through the transplant process. I'm so grateful for many fond memories of family get-togethers and John sharing a good joke or story. I imagine when he first saw Jesus they looked at each other and laughed!
